MomentClip
www.momentclip.studio · Goal: Get someone to upload a long video and, eventually, pay for credits.
Its founder published his numbers in public and asked what moves the needle for a free tool with no audience: 233 videos processed, about 78% of them anonymous, one €20 sale, zero takers on the €0.99 offer. This teardown is unsolicited but the ask was public. It will be removed on request.
01 · The five-second read
What a stranger gets
- You give it a long video and it returns short vertical clips.
- You can drop a file right there, without an account.
- There are plans, and something is free every month.
What they miss
- The three things that make this different from Opus Clip. In his own words: free, no signup to try, no watermark, pay as you go instead of a subscription. The words "no signup" and "watermark" appear nowhere on the page. The whole wedge is invisible.
- What happens to the video. A stranger is asked to upload a two-hour recording of their podcast to a site they met a minute ago, and nothing says whether it is deleted, who can see it, or how long it is kept.
- What the clips look like. The hero holds a black box with the product name in it, not a single output of the product.
02 · Fixes, ranked
- 01
Put the wedge where the eye lands
Every competitor promises clips. Almost none of them lets you try without an account and without a watermark. That sentence is the only reason to choose this one, and it is missing.
Change: One line under the headline: "No account, no watermark, 10 minutes free every month. Paid packs from €5, never a subscription."
- 02
Show one real clip instead of the logo
The hero panel is the most valuable space on the page and it currently shows the brand. For a video product, the proof is the output, playing.
Change: Autoplay a muted nine-second vertical clip produced by the tool, with the original next to it.
- 03
Answer the upload question next to the upload box
The action you ask for, handing over a file, is heavier than the action a normal landing page asks for. People will not do it in silence.
Change: Three lines under the drop zone: how long files are kept, whether clips are private, and that nothing is used to train anything.
- 04
Make the anonymous 78% reachable
Nearly four out of five users get value and disappear. That is not a conversion problem, it is a contact problem: there is nothing to come back to.
Change: After the export, give each clip set a private page with a link, valid a few days, and one line: "keep this link, or get it by email".
- 05
Trigger the €0.99 offer at the moment it is wanted
A one-time €0.99 unlock has no takers because it is on a pricing page, far from the moment where someone hits the ten-minute limit.
Change: Show it inside the flow, when the free quota is exceeded, with the exact video the person is trying to process.
03 · New words
Headline
- Option 1: Ten clips from your long video. No account, no watermark.
- Option 2: Your podcast, cut into shorts. Free to try, nothing to install.
- Option 3: 1 long video, 10 vertical clips, zero signup.
Subheadline
- Option 1: Drop a file. Get vertical clips for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, with no watermark. 10 minutes free every month, then packs from €5, never a subscription.
- Option 2: The free tier is not a trial: it renews every month, and the clips are yours, clean.
- Option 3: For podcasters and interviewers who do not want a monthly bill for four clips a month.
Button
- Option 1: Drop a video, no account
- Option 2: Get my clips free
- Option 3: See a clip it made first
04 · Friction I can see
- The measurable side is clean: 54 KB of HTML, first byte in 0.37 s, favicon, canonical, viewport, language all present.
- No og:image, so every share of the link, including the one in his own post, shows as bare text. For a product that spreads by clips being shared, that is the first hole in the bucket.
- 16 external scripts before the first screen.
- The header carries eight menus (Free Tools, Solutions, Use Cases, Compare, Pricing, Blog, Team, Sign in) above a page whose only job is to receive one file.
Verdict
The mechanics work and the page is technically clean. It sells the same promise as every competitor while hiding the three things that make it different, and it asks for a file upload without saying what happens to the file. Those two sentences are worth more than any new launch.
